Rate: £11.50 per hour



An Assistant Social Worker is required for initially a 3 month temporary contract with possible extension. To provide support based in Smalley. Working hours will be variable and worked during the evening and weekends to support with activities.

Purpose of the Post:
To flexibly support the professional social work task. To include visiting and assessment of those persons requiring help, and the provision of such assistance under the direction of a social worker or Service Manager. The management of a caseload under the regular guidance of a social worker. This should not include more complex case situations. The overall responsibility for the work remains with the Service Manager. It will be necessary to work with information technology and associated systems and existing technology agreements and consultative procedures will be applied in accordance with County Council policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Arranging and Supervising of contact.
To assist in the assessment process
To commission services both internally and externally
To undertake complete holistic assessments of service user needs on less complex cases, to include a range of outcomes
Arranging/providing transport for/or acting as escort to clients.
Disseminating information to clients (eg facilities available in the community and/or provided by the Department).
Assisting Social Workers and others in the implementation of assessment, intervention and care plans.
Liaison with voluntary bodies and other services, agencies or groups working in the area, as appropriate.
Serving on ad hoc bodies/working parties etc.
Recording of all work undertaken and the preparation of reports/ assessments.
Assisting or running group and community projects in the area, as appropriate.
To undertake such training as is required.
To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines.
To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the post.

Providing services to all client groups if required, including the more routine statutory visiting of children in care.
To be involved, jointly with the Service Manager, in reviewing work and caseload at regular intervals, including the closure and transfer of cases.
To undertake complete holistic assessments of service user needs on less complex cases, to include a range of outcomes including community and residential services, in whatever service user group.
To undertake reviews of service users and their care plans.

Direct experience of work with children in social, educational or health care setting

NVQ III Care or equivalent* Candidates who do not currently hold the qualification as detailed in the essential criteria must acquire it once in post.
