Role: Civil Engineer
To play a key role in the assessment of the interim civils determination for instructed period holding the account for the delivery of existing and future delivery plans. Assess and evaluate asset management policies and the effectiveness of their application to the network in respect of civil engineering assets. To hold operators to account for the delivery of maintenance and renewal activities where these are included in franchise obligations. To monitor activity levels for civil engineering maintenance and renewal expenditure and volume delivery.To monitor infrastructure condition and challenge any failure to meet regulatory outputs. This will include regular liaison meetings with Professional Heads and other senior staff both at corporate and route level. To provide specialist technical input to the directorate activities including joint site inspections, investigations and enquiries. Provide specialist technical input to activities including access charges and efficiency considerations.
Whilst civil servants are responsible for the delivery of this plan there are a number of tasks which require specialist technical expertise and support including:
- Management and development of the pan-defence implementation of the Government Construction Strategy activities
- Development and delivery of a transition plan for smarter infrastructure in line with the Government’s smarter infrastructure agenda (outlined in the Government Construction Strategy)
- Development and Continuous improvement of JSP 315 Building Performance Standards.
- Driving the Sustainability pilot project programme reporting to the JSP 315 SG
