Role: Senior Planner Location: Kent
Salary: £35-40 per hour
PURPOSE OF JOB
Development Management - Member of an Area Planning Team or Major Projects team dealing with all aspects of development management and responsible to the Area Planning Officer or Major Projects Officer.
Spatial Planning - To assist with all aspects of work involved in the prepareation of Local Development Documents and other lanning documents produced b the Council.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
> The processing of planning applications involving the receipt and initial checking, the carrying out of consultations, negotiations and site inspections and the drafting of reports for Committee and delegated decisions.
> The preparation of planning appeal statements. Giving advice by letter, by telephone and in person to the general public and potential applicants on the need for planning permission, undertaking discussions/negotiations and the application of Council policy to proposals prior to submission of applications, and on more general matters such as policies contained in the Local Plan/Local Development Framework.
Liaising and working with the Planning Enforcement Team.
Various other duties including dealing with correspondence, and answering additional questions on Local Land Charges Searches.
> Postholders on grade 8 will be expected to attend committee and public inquiries when required and deputise for the Area Planning Officer in their absence.
> To undertake such other duties as may from time to time be allocated by the Major Projects Officer or Development Manager.
