We are seeking an experienced and motivated Locum Education Lawyer to join our Legal Services team who is able to conduct and manage a significant existing case load following the recent departure of the lawyer to the Education team.
The role will involve managing a varied education law caseload, including school admissions, SEND Tribunal matters, independent review panels, school organisation and wider education law issues. You will provide legal advice to schools under SLA arrangements, represent the Council in tribunal proceedings, act as Legal Adviser to independent panels, and support the Group Lawyer in delivering a high-quality education law service.
The successful candidate will work closely with Education, SEND, Admissions and School Organisation teams, building strong professional relationships to support effective service delivery. The role also includes leading strategic meetings with senior officers, deputising for the Group Lawyer at Directorate Management Team and business partner meetings, and providing legal support on complex and sensitive matters affecting Children’s Services.
