Principal Housing & Litigation Lawyer

Salary: £51,356 to £56,494 + Market Rate Supplement of £3000 p/a
(Pay award pending)
37 hours per week. Flexible hybrid working model. Candidates should ideally be within reasonable travelling distance due to court attendance. The council is likely to move towards a minimum office attendance expectation of around two days per month.

Main Responsibilities:
- Act as the lead housing law specialist within the team.
- Provide advice on housing policies, procedures and complex housing matters.
- Handle higher-level housing litigation work.
- Support housing services with technically complex legal issues.
- Provide senior-level legal expertise and guidance.
Key skills required:
- Strong specialist housing law experience.
- Detailed knowledge of housing legislation, policy and procedures.
- Ability to advise on complex and strategic housing matters.
- Experience working at a senior legal level.
Not Suitable:
- General litigators without housing expertise.
- Criminal, prosecution or regulatory specialists without a housing law background.
